Manchester Evening News’ Simon Bajkowski has reported (as relayed by City Zone) that Man City defender Aymeric Laporte has suffered an injury.
As things stand, there seems to be no credible update on the number of matches Laporte is set to miss.
It seemed as if the £57.5 million man (Bleacher Report) had taken a knock after he was excluded from City’s latest matchday squad before their 1-1 draw to Everton.
This is far from welcome news for Man City and Pep Guardiola, as Ruben Dias is set to be out till late February with a thigh injury.
Currently, the Sky Blues only have three fit centre-halves in John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji.
While that may not seem like a crisis on paper, the absence of Dias and now Laporte means Man City do not have two out of their three best defenders available.
This is especially worse for the English giants are set to face Chelsea in the Premier League and the FA Cup, as well as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all before the end of January.
In addition, Man City do not look at their brilliant best at present.
Just recently, Pep Guardiola’s side dropped two points after being held to a 1-1 draw against Everton.
With an excellent Arsenal side extending their lead at the top of the table to 7 points, a tall task stands in front of City to win three titles in a row.
As a result, virtually every Man City fan will be hoping that Aymeric Laporte returns from injury as soon as possible, as he remains one of the side’s most vital players.
