Manchester City have been very busy in the summer transfer market.
The Premier League giants entered the transfer window intending to add four to five new stars to Pep Guardiola’s squad as a rebuild was required after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
At the heart of this rebuild has been a revamp of City’s midfield as Tijjani Reijnders has arrived as a new number eight, while Rayan Cherki wants to be used as a number 10 at the Etihad Stadium.
Having brought in multiple stars, outgoings are likely to happen at Man City over the coming weeks, as Guardiola called for a smaller squad towards the end of last season.
A fan favourite is now keen on a move out of Manchester as his dream club continues to push for his signing.

Galatasaray are pushing to sign Ilkay Gundogan
It was recently reported that Guardiola would be open to letting Ilkay Gundogan leave Man City this summer, as the midfielder’s return did not work out for the Manchester club last season.
Following City’s new arrivals, the German star seems to be more open to that move as Gundogan travelled to Turkey recently to meet with Galatasaray.
It is now being reported by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu that the Turkish giants are now pushing to try and complete a deal for the Man City star, with the 34-year-old believed to be keen on the move.
“Galatasaray is trying to complete the transfer of İlkay Gündoğan,” the journalist reported. “The player is also keen on coming to Galatasaray. Apart from Galatasaray, an official offer has also been made to İlkay from Saudi Arabia, but Galatasaray is one step ahead in this transfer.”
Galatasaray are Gundogan’s dream club as the midfielder grew up a fan of the Turkish side with his parents both being natives of Türkiye.
Guardiola has previously described Gundogan as “so important” to his team and that the German is an “exceptional” talent via Mancity.com; however, the legendary coach is unlikely to stand in the way of the Man City legend should he want to move to Galatasaray this summer.

Ilkay Gundogan’s record vs Galatasaray
Gundogan would be joining the best team in Turkey should he complete a move to Galatasaray over the coming weeks, as they cruised to the Super Lig title by 11 points last season.
This would increase the midfielder’s chances of putting up good numbers against the rest of the Turkish league, and when it comes to the team he could potentially join, the German star has a perfect record.
Gundogan has only played against Galatasaray on two occasions as his boyhood club were part of Borussia Dortmund’s group during the 2014/15 edition of the Champions League.
The Bundesliga club won both games, securing a 4-0 win away, while earning all three points in the home game with a 4-1 result. Gundogan provided an assist in Turkey, which is the only goal contribution he has against Galatasaray.
