Tijjani Reijnders seems to have caught Manchester City’s eye as the AC Milan technician continues to cement his name as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Manchester City admire Reijnders, who is on their radar despite signing a contract extension at Milan until 2030 as recently as in March.

Pep Guardiola has liked Reijnders for ages and it seems like the Sky Blues have earmarked the Dutchman as a part of their much-anticipated squad reshuffle this summer.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for AC Milan this campaign and alongside the likes of Hakan Cahanoglou and Khephren Thuram to name a few, he has a case for being the best midfielder in Serie A this season.

Now, a fresh update has emerged about Tijjani Reijnders and Manchester City’s interest.

Hugo Viana targeting Tijjani Reijnders at Man City

Fabrizio Romano initially confirmed on his official YouTube channel that incoming Manchester City sporting director Hugo Viana has shortlisted Reijnders’ name “Tijjani Reijnders is in the shortlist of Hugo Viana, new Manchester City director. So, Reijnders is really appreciated by Man City, he’s a player they really like.”

Romano also revealed that the Dutch international is attracting City’s interest because they are keen to bring in a central midfielder in the summer: “My understanding is that Manchester City, this summer really want to sign a number 10 and a number eight.”

“So, an offensive midfielder and a creative player. That’s why Florian Wirtz is the dream target but Bayern are still the favourites in this deal. That’s why [Morgan] Gibbs-White is a player they consider a lot internally at Manchester City in terms of number 10.”

While Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City are huge admirers of Reijnders, the Italian journalist also made it clear that AC Milan will demand a massive fee if they decide to move him on,

“Tijjani Reijnders is a number eight, he’s seen as a fantastic solution but for AC Milan, he’s a really important player. The price will not be little because I’ve seen some reports on the price but for Milan, the price of Tijjani Reijnders will be a really huge price and it is yet to be seen whether Milan want to sell the player or not. So, the Reijnders story is one to watch.”

Tijjani Reijnders could replace one man at Manchester City

Manchester City could bid for Reijnders as AC Milan are expecting them to offer a fee of £51 million.

But the question amongst City fans could be which player the Sky Blues target could replace if he comes in.

Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported last month that Manchester City have asked Bernardo Silva to leave at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Benfica could be set to reach an agreement to re-sign Bernardo.

With Reijnders also being a complete number eight like the Portuguese international, perhaps Manchester City feel he would be the best candidate to take his place in the squad.
