Graeme Souness has said that Jack Grealish is yet to well and truly prove him wrong.
The outspoken pundit recently slammed the treble-winner, especially pinpointing that he had “no end product”, which he believed was a cardinal sin for a forward.
On talkSPORT (18/12/2023), Graeme Souness has claimed that until Jack Grealish scores 10 goals every season until the end of his career, his initial criticism about him will remain valid.
Graeme Souness says Jack Grealish must score 10 goals in every season until he retires to prove him wrong
Recently, Pep Guardiola also urged the former Aston Villa attacker to step up in terms of getting goals, assists and winning matches.
Tim Sherwood, however, hailed the Englishman as a “top-drawer player” and mentioned how he disagreed with the pundit’s criticism of him.
Now, Graeme Souness seems to have doubled down when it comes to his initial remarks about Manchester City superstar Jack Grealish.

“Long may it continue for him. At the end of the season, he can get into double figures. And then the challenge for him after that before sticking two fingers up to me is to do it again next year and then the next year. We call great players bang average players today”, he told talkSPORT.
“There is so much stuff about world-class players, legends of the game that have achieved very little. That’s the hype around the game today. Jack Grealish has to be getting 10 goals every year until he retires and then, we can maybe have a conversation then. Not three goals in the last three weeks.”
Unreasonably critical of Jack Grealish
For Graeme Souness to demand Jack Grealish to improve as a goalscorer and better his end product is completely reasonable.
But to demand the two-time Premier League winner to score 10 goals until he retires as a challenge before he can prove him wrong is not, in our view.
Instead of analysing the reasons behind Jack Grealish’s recent goalscoring form, it seems like the former Newcastle United boss is merely targeting a player for no rhyme or reason.
A pundit’s job is to offer their honest opinions and analyse the game for viewers at home, especially as they tend to be ex-players.
But in this instance, it seems like Graeme Souness is just being excessively harsh on Jack Grealish for some reason.
As for Grealish, he must simply ignore any stick he gets and focus on getting better and better on a daily basis.
