Radio presenter Sam Matterface believes Manchester City star Jack Grealish ‘might be in danger’ of missing out on England’s Euro 2024 squad later this year.
Grealish has had a bit of a stop-start season this time around for City.
After being one of the key players in the Treble-winning 2022/23 campaign, Grealish has struggled for regularity this term.
He’s made 24 appearances so far across all competitions for a total of 1525 minutes.
He’s had some injury problems and also been ill, and with Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb showing real promise, the £100 million man isn’t in his best moment right now.
In the eyes of broadcaster Sam Matterface, Grealish’s place in the England squad could be in jeopardy if things don’t change…
Sam Matterface worried about Jack Grealish’s England prospects amid lack of minutes for Manchester City recently

Matterface was speaking about Phil Foden on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access podcast, when he expressed his concerns about Grealish.
The 28-year-old has made just one 13-minute appearance in City’s last three Premier League games, and he also did not get off the bench in the FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.
He did get 57 minutes against Huddersfield Town though in City’s first game of 2024.
Matterface said: “(I’m) a bit worried about Jack Grealish. Because he’s been out of the picture for a little while. He might be in danger of being one of the odd men out as far as the Euros are concerned, unless he can get back in the team.
“But you know what Pep is like, he puts you on the bench for a little spell and then brings you back again and you have the headlines following you once again.”
Grealish missing out would be a huge shock
It would be a huge surprise if Grealish ended up missing out on England’s Euro 2024 squad this summer.
He may not be featuring too much for City right now, but ultimately he is a player Gareth Southgate needs to be taking.
Grealish is all about ball retention and control, and he does work hard defensively. These things do make him fairly unique and his ability to draw fouls is a very underrated part of his game, because set-pieces can result in goals. He is also a fantastic team player, as Paul Merson recently said.
Going forward, he may not be featuring as prominently for City as he did last season, with Doku and Bobb both fighting for minutes, but it would still be a major surprise if he ended up not getting a seat on that plane.
