Things don’t get much easier for Manchester City as next up they face Liverpool when they return to Premier League competition.
Manchester City’s Champions League campaign crashed to a premature end on Wednesday after they were destroyed by Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola’s side didn’t even come close to laying a glove on Madrid as Kylian Mbappe scored a sensational hat trick to go three up.
Nico Gonzalez’s late tap-in was a mere consolation with the Blues losing 6-3 on aggregate.
There will be little respite this weekend, either, with league leaders Liverpool coming to town.
Here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

Manchester City vs Liverpool team news
City’s injury crisis only got worse on Wednesday and things are not looking promising ahead of the weekend.
Though he was named on the bench, Erling Haaland didn’t even warm up before the game and there was no chance he was going to come on due to injury.
Speaking after the match, Guardiola said: “Erling trained yesterday. I believe the images we have done are fine, but he has discomfort walking and for example on stairs.
“We spoke yesterday, and this morning and he said he didn’t feel good, didn’t feel ready.”
There was more bad news in the game as John Stones went off injured early on after appearing to pull a muscle when playing a pass. The defender has been cursed with injuries all season and his bad fortune looks to have struck again.
Additionally, City remain without Manuel Akanji, Rodri and Oscar Bobb while Kevin De Bruyne’s fitness remains in question as well.
Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez are doubts for Liverpool.

Prediction
City fans can’t be excited at the prospect of facing Liverpool and for good reason given the vastly different forms of both sides.
Liverpool are riding high at the top of the table while City are stumbling from crisis to crisis and look like they’ll be without their best players for the match.
It could be a long afternoon.
Prediction: Manchester City 1-3 Liverpool.
