Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he is surprised no other team tried to sign Manchester City talent Jeremy Doku.
Speaking on FIVE magazine’s official YouTube channel, the well-known pundit had his say on the £55.5 million (Sky Sports) man.
Rio Ferdinand could not hide his surprise at the fact that Manchester City had a clear run at signing Jeremy Doku this summer.
Rio Ferdinand says he is ‘surprised’ no other team tried to sign Jeremy Doku
Branded as an ‘elite dribbler’ by The Athletic, the 21-year-old already has an admirer of his in Pep Guardiola.
After all, the Spaniard admitted that he has been ‘impressed’ by how quickly the youngster has adapted to life at the Etihad Stadium after his stormer of a performance in his side’s 3-1 win against West Ham.
Now, Rio Ferdinand has said that he cannot quite believe why other teams did not compete with Manchester City over the signature of Jeremy Doku.

“I’m just surprised that he wasn’t taken by anybody else. I am, genuinely because I said that the raw materials he has, you’d think he would be a no-brainer for anybody. He’s got the personality, you can tell from his interviews only. His personality, his character’s there.”
Manchester City have signed a future superstar in Jeremy Doku
Rio Ferdinand makes a valid point as Manchester City seemed to have found it rather straightforward to wrap up the signing of Jeremy Doku.
The Sky Blues would likely be delighted with their acquisition of the Belgian speedster, who already showcased against West Ham why he is regarded as one of the most talented wingers in the world.
While only time will tell whether Doku starts to add end product to his game on a regular basis, there are not many complains to be made about his dribbling, technical ability and athleticism.
Impressively, the highly-rated wideman also seems to have instantly adapted to Pep Guardiola’s system.
Working day in and day out under Guardiola, one can easily foresee him becoming an elite winger in the near future.
