Manchester City fans have seen some incredible stars come through their club in recent years.
Since the arrival of Pep Guardiola, City have enjoyed unmatched success in England, and throughout the legendary coach’s time at the Etihad Stadium, Man City fans have concluded that Kevin De Bruyne is the greatest midfielder to ever play the game.
Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere would probably agree with the supporters of the Manchester club, as he recently stated that De Bruyne was better than Gunners legend Patrick Vieira.
Despite the Englishman’s admiration of the Belgian star, he has now stated that another Man City hero was the hardest opponent he has ever played against.

Jack Wilshere found Yaya Toure tough to play against
Yaya Toure’s time in the Premier League will always be remembered by Man City fans as the Ivory Coast star made 230 appearances in the English top flight with the Manchester club, providing his team with 62 goals and 32 assists.
The City legend would win the Premier League on three separate occasions, but would somehow never pick up a Player of the Season or Player of the Month award; however, he was still a bargain, having been signed from Barcelona for just £24m.
Despite this, Wilshere has named Toure as the hardest opponent he has played against when asked the question by TNT Sports’ TikTok account.
It has become clear in recent years how much respect the midfielder earned during his time in England, as Premier League great Steven Gerrard also praised Toure recently, telling Rio Ferdinand just how tough the City hero was to play against.
Yaya Toure’s record vs Arsenal
Wilshere would have battled with Toure during his time at Arsenal, and the Englishman would not have been too disappointed at the end of those games, as the former Man City midfielder had a perfectly balanced record against the North London club.
Toure played against Arsenal on 15 occasions, winning five, drawing five and losing the remaining five. The Ivorian scored against the Gunners on two occasions, while providing just the one assist, with one of those strikes coming in a 6-3 win during the 2013/14 campaign.
Man City fans will be happy to see Toure get the recognition he deserves, as it feels that the midfielder’s legendary career gets lost with De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and David Silva shining over the last decade.
