Despite being a centre-back by trade, Josko Gvardiol’s shooting would put several strikers to shame.
The Croatian international is renowned for scoring goals since signing for Manchester City in 2023, with his belters against Real Madrid and Wolves being examples of the fact that he has a strike on him.
Josko Gvardiol scoring such stunners with his weaker right foot as well goes to show how terrific his technique is.
At the Etihad Stadium, several players are brilliant at striking the ball, with Bernardo Silva lauding Erling Haaland’s shot power as the best in the squad.
Phil Foden has always practiced his shooting and during the 2023/2024 season, the Englishman tasted the fruits of his labour by scoring 27 goals in all competitions.

Josko Gvardiol says Ederson has a more powerful shot than Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland is unsurprisingly the best finisher in Manchester City’s squad and while most of his goals come from inside the box, he has had a history of scoring from long distances — with the star striker’s screamers against Paris Saint-Germain and Ipswich Town springing to mind.
The Norwegian international seems to be instructed to occupy the box by Pep Guardiola but when he strikes the ball from distance, goalkeepers are often rendered powerless.
Speaking to Sofascore, Gvardiol has claimed that at Manchester City, no player has a more powerful strike on them than Ederson Moraes, revealing: “You would not believe it, can you guess?”
“No, no, no, you can’t believe what this is. I think if you just stand there and he hits you in the head, I think [you will have to go to the hospital], straight away. I don’t know how this is but we need to make a video to show people how powerful he is [when shooting the ball], you know how many long balls he plays.”
Ederson holds unique Guinness World Record at Manchester City
Gvardiol might certainly have a point about Ederson, who displayed his excellent shooting technique by scoring against Real Madrid from the penalty spot when Manchester City were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals last year.
Even in the FA Community Shield last season, the Brazilian scored from the spot after sending Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana to the wrong side.
In 2018, Ederson set a Guinness World Record for the longest drop kick ever recorded at 75.35m.
It took the Manchester City legend three attempts to reach the feat.
In Ederson’s first two tries at the Etihad Campus, both of his kicks were recorded at 75 metres.
But on his third attempt, Ederson made history, which justifies Gvardiol’s claim.
