‘Make you pay’… Andoni Iraola makes claim about Manchester City straight after facing Liverpool yesterday

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola praised Manchester City after his side’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Spaniard focused on how “clinical” City are, which he believes is the mark of a top team while speaking to BBC Sport after the contest.

When the Cherries faced Pep Guardiola’s men at the Etihad Stadium in November, they were on the receiving end of a 6-1 mauling.

Andoni Iraola says Manchester City “make you pay” when teams face them

Bernardo Silva scored a brilliant brace, while Jeremy Doku, Manuel Akanji, Phil Foden and Nathan Ake all got on the scoresheet in arguably City’s most dominant performance in the Premier League this season.

The Sky Blues bossed possession while creating several chances, making the clash a no-contest at the end of the day.

After Bournemouth were annihilated by Liverpool, Andoni Iraola paid a compliment to them as well as Manchester City and Arsenal.

“I think Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been really good against us. There’s a reason they are the top three teams. Whenever they have a chance, they are clinical and when you make a mistake, they make you pay for it”, he told BBC Sport.

Manchester City must take their chances like they did against Bournemouth going forward

While Manchester City were ruthless in front of goal when they faced Andoni Iraola and Co., the same cannot be said about plenty of their performances this season.

For instance, against the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in particular, the Sky Blues fluffed their lines on several occasions.

In the Champions League in the past, City have suffered the consequences of not putting away their chances.

As a result, Pep Guardiola’s side must ensure that they tuck away their opportunities in every competition they are in, as was the case when they demolished Bournemouth last year.
