Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City midfielder Rodri actually spoke to him about his Spain teammate Lamine Yamal recently.
Rodri is currently enjoying some time off following his exploits for his country at Euro 2024.
The 28-year-old helped his nation triumph in Germany, and after the final against England, he was named Player of the Tournament.
It was just another terrific showing from Rodri, who is rightly receiving a lot of Ballon d’Or shouts now. Including from Spain manager Luis de la Fuente.
Someone else who really had people talking during the course of the Euros was Lamine Yamal, who was named Young Player of the Tournament.
Yamal is on course to become the next big footballing superstar, and Rodri has seemingly talked him up to Pep Guardiola.
What Man City star Rodri tells Pep Guardiola about Lamine Yamal

Yamal has been an absolute sensation since bursting onto the scene in 2023 as a 15-year-old.
The winger has already clocked up 51 appearances for Barca’s first-team having only just turned 17, and the starlet looks all set for an incredible career.
He was one of the shining lights for Spain at the Euros, and his ability is not lost on Rodri.
Pep was speaking ahead of Manchester City‘s next pre-season game with Barcelona, and revealed that Rodri is always telling him about the exciting Yamal when he returns from Spain duty
He said: “Rodri tells me great things about Lamine Yamal. He’s exceptional.”
Journalist Victor Navarro quotes Pep as saying: “He’s extraordinary. When Rodri comes from the national team I always ask him how he is and he always talks wonders to me. And now you see. And if Xavi makes him debut it is because he saw something that was different from the rest.”
City have never been linked with a move for Yamal. But it is impossible to see how they won’t come eventually.
Yamal in a City shirt would be incredible

Yamal is an incredible prospect and it would be amazing to see him in a City shirt one day.
Currently, Yamal has a contract with the club until 2026, and the youngster has a release clause of €1b.
So a deal for any club in the world to poach Yamal from Barca will be incredibly difficult.
Yamal is a remarkable technician and would no doubt fit into Guardiola’s City team. The manager is obviously now into his final season at the Etihad, but there is a reasonable chance he could decide to extend.
It would be incredible for him to pen fresh terms and then try and facilitate a move for Yamal in the future.
