Pimenta: Haaland signs biggest sponsorship deal in "football history"

Aside from Erling Haaland being one of the best strikers in the world, one reason behind the buzz around his arrival was that a superstar in his prime was set to step foot in the Premier League.

While countless number of elite players have played in the English top-flight, it is rare that a player of the Manchester City No.9’s stature earmarks the English top-flight as his league of choice at the very top of his game.

Furthermore, a key element of the Norwegian striker’s brand is that he is set to compete with PSG’s Kylian Mbappe for the title of the best player in the world for the next decade.

Considering all these factors, alongside the fact that Haaland has surpassed all expectations by redefining goalscoring standards in English football so far, he has become nothing short of a household name.

After the 22-year old’s sponsorship with Nike came to an end this year, sportswear giants such as Adidas and Puma are reportedly going head-to-head to land the global phenomenon, as stated by the Athletic.

Erling Haaland’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta shed light on the staggering demand for her client, making a startling revelation about his upcoming sponsorship deal.

“When I started 20 years ago, I’d never had reached sponsorship numbers we’re discussing today for Haaland”, she said, in a chat with Globo Play.

She continued, “We’ll be announcing very soon, Haaland’s new sponsor and it’s the biggest sports sponsorship deal in football history!”

“But I’m sure three years from now, when I look at this contract, I’ll say, ‘What a horrible contract, right?”

Pimenta’s revelations emphasise the level of superstar Haaland has become, as his stock will continue to rise as he continues to break records in the most watched league on the planet.

From both a footballing as well as a marketing point of view, the man is a machine.
