Real Madrid now regret their decision not to sign Pedro Porro – a player Manchester City sold in 2022.

That is according to Bernabeu Digital.

So, what is the situation involving Pedro Porro and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

Real Madrid admire Pedro Porro

Well, Manchester City probably did not expect the man from Don Benito to become the player he is now.

The Citizens signed Porro from Girona back in 2019 for £11m before sending him on loan to Real Valladolid – and actually allowed the Spanish side an option to buy the defender permanently.

However, Real Valladolid rejected the chance, leading Manchester City to send the Spain international on loan to Sporting CP – who eventually signed him for £7m in May 2022.

Porro shone in Portugal, with Bernabeu Digital claiming that Real Madrid showed an interest in bringing the 24-year-old to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ultimately, the Spanish giants decided to stick with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez – before Tottenham swooped in to sign the Spaniard in a deal worth £40m in January 2023.

Porro has shone in north London – mainly this season under Ange Postecoglou – providing six assists in 15 Premier League appearances.

Now – according to Bernabeu Digital – Real Madrid regret ignoring the chance to sign Porro, who is described by the outlet as being one of the best right-backs in the world.

If that is the case, imagine how Manchester City feel after cashing in for just £7m – a £4m loss on the club’s initial investment.

Manchester City could have signed Pedro Porro for £17m

After Manchester City witnessed Porro become a superstar in Lisbon, the option to bring him back to the Etihad Stadium for just £17m was there – according to the Manchester Evening News.

That now seems like it would have been a bargain – especially as Kyle Walker turns 34 in May.

Some Tottenham fans even said earlier this season that the treble winners made a mistake.

Pep Guardiola certainly could have used Porro as a long term replacement for the England international – although the Spaniard is said to be looking at Reece James to carry out that task.
