Rodri has shared his thoughts on Manchester City having Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland play together.

The two strikers arrived at the Manchester club during the 2022 summer transfer window.

Having won three titles in their first season together, the pair are on the hunt to lift even more silverware this time around.

Now though, one other City player has shared his thoughts on the strike duo and how they are able to play together.

In a recent feature article about Alvarez shared on the club’s website, Rodri had this to say when asked about having the Argentine and Haaland play together.

He said: “Yes, of course, we can play with both. This is something very, very important because they are both goal-scorers, both strikers and Julian can also take up different positions and this is also very important because if you have one player who can score goals it is great, but if you have two, it is incredible, and this shows the ability and capability of Julian to be able to do what the manager wants.”

During their time together with the Citizens, Alvarez and Haaland have featured in 58 games together in all competitions.

Across those matches, the duo have racked up eight joint goal participations, with the Argentine assisting six for Haaland and the Norwegian assisting two for Alvarez.

With Alvarez making more key passes (61) than any other City player in the Premier League this season and Haaland having more shots at goal (87), this highlights how much of an impact the duo have in terms of City’s attack.

As Rodri mentioned, the Argentina international has featured in numerous positions this season, which shows how useful he is for Pep Guardiola and how he’s able to deploy the duo in the same side.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, if the pair are able to deliver goal contributions on a consistent basis, they will give City a great chance of winning more trophies.
