‘I was told’: Journalist says a mystery club now want to sign £50m Man City player

Journalist Sam Lee has shared what he’s been told about extra transfer interest in Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

Last week, the Englishman had reportedly verbally agreed to join Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer after being in talks with the German club since June.

Now though, one journalist has shared some information he was told by another party regarding the current interest in the defender.

Speaking in a recent edition of the Let Me Talk podcast, Lee said this about Walker and what he was told about another club having an interest in him.

He said: “On Friday I was told that another club had actually come into the mix.

“I don’t know now how that’s gone, but I was told another club, a foreign club had come into the mix but apparently, it wasn’t going to change his mind on the Bayern move.”

City spent £50m to sign the 33-year-old back in the 2017 summer transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then, the England international has gone on to win numerous trophies with Pep Guardiola’s side including five Premier League titles and one Champions League.

Having helped the Manchester club win the treble last season and show his defensive capabilities by handling Vinicius Junior in City’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid, which led to Thierry Henry sharing some significant praise for him, it’s easy to see why the right-back has Bayern after him.

It’s also understandable that another top team has apparently entered the frame to land a potential deal for the player.

However, with City apparently offering the veteran a new contract, this highlights how much they value him and that they wouldn’t want to see him join another side that are likely to be wanting to dethrone City as the top dogs in England or Europe.
