“100%”: Pundit now makes claim about Man City when predicting the Manchester derby

Dimitar Berbatov has now shared his thoughts on the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The 42-year-old gave his prediction to the Metro.

So, what did Dimitar Berbatov say about Manchester City and Manchester United? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Bulgarian – who Manchester City actually made a £30m bid for way back in 2008 – surprisingly claimed that he thinks it will be a draw between the treble winners and the Red Devils.

Berbatov did – however – state that Erik ten Hag’s side cannot play like they did against Copenhagen on Tuesday, or else Manchester City will tear them to shreds.

The Premier League legend – who suggested Rodri has a touch of arrogance after his recent red card – said: “Let me tell you something. If United allow the same freedom like they did against Copenhagen to City, they are going to suffer.

“There are teams when you play against them, you can afford to make mistakes because you know there’s a lack of quality in the opposition, they are not going to take advantage of the mistakes you’re making. But then there are teams when you know if you make half of a mistake they will punish you – teams like City. You need to be 100% more concentrated against City.

“I’ll go for a (1-1) draw.”

We highly doubt it will be a draw, and even think Manchester City could record another famous hammering like that memorable 6-1 win at Old Trafford back in 2011.

Having said that, Ten Hag’s side won this fixture last season against the odds, so anything is possible.

Manchester City need to win

People rarely say Manchester City “need” a win nowadays, as Guardiola’s side have a knack of embarking on remarkable runs to overturn point deficits in the Premier League, as we saw last season.

However, it really does feel as if this Manchester City team need to overcome Manchester United, to reaffirm to the rest of the Premier League who they are.

The Citizens only have one win from their last three Premier League games, and have looked a little cagey in recent weeks.

Therefore, a confidence boosting win in the Manchester derby is needed – it could be a result which kickstarts another trademark run of victories under Guardiola.
