16-year-old Man City youngster says he tries to play exactly like Paul Pogba, ‘my idol’

Manchester City have a youngster who idolises former Manchester United and AS Monaco midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba admitted he almost joined Manchester City after leaving Old Trafford in 2022 but the club that the Frenchman is perhaps most associated with is United.

The World Cup winner joined the Red Devils’ academy as a teenager and spent the longest time during his career in the red half of Manchester.

For a Manchester City player, it is uncommon to idolise a Manchester United player due to the longstanding rivalry between the two clubs.

Floyd Samba names Paul Pogba as his ‘favourite player of all time’

However, Floyd Samba, the son of former Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers centre-back Christopher Samba, is the exception.

Despite being a part of Manchester City’s youth ranks since the Under-8 level, the 16-year-old loves the former Juventus technician.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Samba admitted he would love to play like Pogba: “My idol is Pogba. Pogba’s my favourite player of all time.”

“Just the way he plays, I try to be as composed as him as well. His quality is top, technique and everything. Tall as well, like me.”

Samba added: “Especially with passing ability, technique, everything is just top, so I look up to him. I always see him online. I follow him, see what he does and I’m happy that he’s back as well, so I can look at more highlights of him.”

Who is Floyd Samba?

If Samba can go on to become a player of Pogba’s level, he seems destined to play for Manchester City’s first-team.
