Manchester City No.47 Phil Foden has now managed to do something no other active footballer has done.
The statistic was revealed on Manchester City’s official website after Sunday’s 5-0 FA Cup win over Huddersfield.
So, what has Phil Foden done? Let’s take a look…
Phil Foden sets FA Cup record
Well, the England international should take a bow – this is a remarkable achievement.
As mentioned on Manchester City’s official website, Foden is the only player to score in the tournament proper (first round onwards) in each of the last six seasons after his brace against Huddersfield.
That is a fantastic record – especially when you consider the fact the City Football Academy graduate is just 23 years of age.
Foden only made his FA Cup debut back in January 2019 at the age of 18 – so he has managed to score in every single possible edition of the famous competition.

The Stockport-born maestro was handed his FA Cup bow by Pep Guardiola in a 7-0 win over Rotherham at the Etihad Stadium, and has since won the FA Cup on two occasions.
Manchester City did not mention whether other players throughout history have matched Foden’s feat.
Nevertheless, the man rated at €195.8m (£169m) by the CIES Football Observatory is confirmed as the only active footballer to have achieved the impressive accomplishment.
Phil Foden stepping up for Manchester City
It has been a difficult winter for Guardiola as the Spaniard found himself without Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku for key clashes, including the FIFA Club World Cup – Kevin De Bruyne was also absent.
However, Foden has truly stepped up – thriving in a central role.

The England international scored a rocket to help Manchester City come from behind in the 3-1 win over Everton, before also proving instrumental in the 4-0 FIFA Club World Cup final victory over Fluminense.
In total, Foden has now scored 11 goals – while also providing eight assists – in 30 appearances this season, which is a fantastic return. Long may it continue.
