There was a significant moment for Manchester City prospect Yan Couto on Friday as he made his full international debut for Brazil.
The 21-year-old was introduced in the 42nd minute as a replacement for Manchester City old boy Danilo.
So, what is the latest on Yan Couto? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the South American has been impressing on loan at Girona so far this season.
Couto has scored one goal and provided two assists across eight appearances in La Liga, form which has helped Girona sit second in Spain’s top-flight.

As a result, the Manchester City loanee was named in the Brazil squad by Fernando Diniz, and made his official debut in Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Venezuela after amassing 13 caps for the Brazil Under-17 side.
Couto helped Brazil take a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Gabriel Magalhaes, before an 85th minute overhead kick from Eduard Bello flew beyond Ederson and secured a 1-1 draw for Venezuela.
How Manchester City prospect Yan Couto performed on his Brazil debut
According to South American journalist Jorge Nicola, Pep Guardiola likes Couto and believes he has the ability to break into the first-team at Manchester City one day.
It must have been a nervy moment for the right-back to make his full international debut as a substitute, but he gave a good account of himself in what was a difficult World Cup qualifier.

As SofaScore shows, Couto went home with a pass success rate of 89% from 28 attempted passes, while also winning two ground duels and a freekick.
The Brazilian also made one key pass and was dribbled past just twice on his full international debut.
If Couto keeps performing well for Girona and Brazil this season, he may just get an opportunity to shine at Manchester City next season.
