Manchester City are currently on the hunt to win another Premier League title.
The previous season saw City become the first side to win four consecutive league trophies.
With 11 games played so far in this latest campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side have won seven, drawn two and lost two, scoring 22 goals and conceding 13 along the way.
The Blues are currently in second place in the league table, five points behind Liverpool as they look to get back into domestic action following the final international break of 2024.
With almost a third of the campaign gone, a pundit and former City player has named one of the current figures in the Manchester club’s squad as being particularly impressive throughout the early months of the season.

Shaun Wright-Phillips names Rico Lewis as the Premier League’s best young player
In an article shared on the official Premier League website, a range of pundits answered some key questions based on what they’ve seen in the 2024/25 campaign so far.
When asked to name the best young player of the season so far, Shaun Wright-Phillips picked Rico Lewis but also mentioned Liam Delap.
How has Lewis fared this season?
This season has seen the 19-year-old feature in 10 of City’s 11 league matches, starting nine of them.
Having racked up 772 minutes of league action, only five other outfield players at the club have been more prominent in the team than Lewis.
In doing so, the £25k-a-week teenager has featured in various defensive and midfield positions, showing off his versatility and how useful he is for Guardiola.
Speaking of whom, Lewis discussed Guardiola and how much game time the Catalan has given him this season, saying this on the matter back in October.
He said: “It’s difficult to say it’s like a breakout season because I’ve been with them already for two years but it feels in myself there’s more trust in the manager there for me.
“There’s more playing time for me there as well. In terms of playing more games, it does feel like that and I think that’s only helped my confidence and being able to develop more as a player like that as well.
“It feels it because I’m playing more on the pitch but that’s not to say that he didn’t trust me when I wasn’t playing as well. The last season we’ve had so many good players that can play in so many different positions but it’s difficult to fit everyone in at once.
“But in terms of my confidence, it’s massive for it. To be able to have a manager like that who can feel like they can play you in most games is amazing for me.”
Now that Wright-Phillips has picked Lewis as his choice for the best young player in the Premier League this season alongside Delap, this shows just how impressive the City academy graduate has been.
