26-year-old Pep called ‘incredible’ is already dazzling in 23/24, after reports of Man City interest

Manchester City did some really solid business in the last transfer window.

Top players such as Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte moved on.

But City were able to make some quality additions in the form of Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes.

All four new signings have made great impressions so far.

City fans have really taken to Doku in particular, because he’s somewhat of a throwback to the days of City having Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling on the wings.

He’s an explosive dribbler, and it’s going to be very exciting to watch him develop.

There seems to have been a conscious effort made to bring in more ball-carriers and dribblers of late.

And one wonders if Pep is keeping a close eye on another ahead of future windows…

Brighton are a team that’s on everyone’s radar right now.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, the Seagulls are playing some of the best football in Europe.

And one of their best players is Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma signed for Brighton in 2021 from Kawaski Frontale for just £2.7 million.

Having come in as a little known entity, Mitoma is now one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.

He’s been electric so far in 2023/24, playing six Premier League games, scoring three goals and making three assists.

This haul of six goal contributions comes after there were claims that City had interest in the Japan international.

Guardiola has also branded Mitoma ‘incredible’ already earlier this year.

Mitoma could be another Jeremy Doku-type signing in the future for City

It’s early days this season but Mitoma just looks a class act for Brighton.

The 26-year-old is just so direct and so difficult to tackle, it’s little wonder he’s racking up the goals and assists.

City signed Doku in the summer, so that indicates that Guardiola is not just about the technical wide men.

If he’s after another direct winger in the coming windows, then Mitoma could be difficult to ignore.

Not only is he a major threat, but he also has very impressive work-rate, which is something players simply have to have if they are going to play for this City side.

It is very possible Bernardo Silva could leave the club next summer. So perhaps Mitoma could be a replacement, although he is a very different profile to the Portuguese.
