Nathan Ake delivered a sublime performance during Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Everton.

After beating Brentford 3-1 away from home on Monday night, the Citizens picked up another Premier League win this afternoon with a 2-0 victory against the Toffees at the Etihad Stadium.

While Erling Haaland grabbed the headlines by scoring both of City’s goals, one player who we feel deserves a lot of credit for his efforts is Ake.

Playing in the left-back position, the Dutchman had 129 touches of the ball in total, accurately completing 94 of the 102 passes he attempted, leaving him with a passing accuracy percentage of 92%.

In terms of his defensive work, the 28-year-old made two tackles and won five of the six duels he was involved in (83%).

This performance ultimately earned Ake an overall match rating of 7.7/10 from SofaScore, leaving only Haaland (8.7/10) with a higher rating in the City team.

The Manchester Evening News also picked up on the defender’s performance by saying in their player ratings article that he “Made himself a threat in the opposition box and seamlessly made the left-back spot his own again.”

With all of that in mind, we feel that Ake will have definitely pleased Guardiola with this latest display and made himself the unsung hero of the day.

Moving forward, we think that the Netherlands international should continue to be picked in the team given how capable he is of moving the ball around the pitch, as well as the clear defensive ability he has to offer City.

Next week sees the Manchester club return to Champions League action with the first leg of their round of 16 matches against Copenhagen, which is a game that we feel should see Ake keep his place in the team.
