Manchester City No.5 John Stones has now sent a message to David Silva.
The 29-year-old wrote to the Spaniard on Instagram.
So, what did John Stones send to David Silva? Let’s take a look…
John Stones sends message to David Silva
Well, today (Monday) is the Manchester City legend’s 38th birthday.
Manchester City uploaded a post on Instagram sending the club’s best to Silva, and Stones was one of two players at the Etihad Stadium to echo that sentiment – along with Sergio Gomez.
The England international wrote “happy birthday @david21lva” in the comments section.
Gomez then called Silva his “idol” while also adding a blue heart to his message.
We’re sure others sent their regards to the man from Arguineguín privately, although it was still nice to see the £47.5m Stones and Gomez wish him a happy birthday in public.
Stones made 101 appearances alongside Silva for Manchester City, helping the Citizens record an impressive average of 2.25 points per game.
In that time, the duo combined to score just one goal, with Silva assisting Stones to score in a 4-0 win over Feyenoord back in the 2017/18 campaign.
How David Silva fared after Manchester City exit
Silva – who Joleon Lescott recently compared to Bernardo Silva – moved to Real Sociedad in 2020 after leaving Manchester City, and made 93 appearances for the Spanish outfit before retiring back in July.
The Manchester City icon actually lifted the Copa del Rey in 2020, going on to score seven goals while providing 18 assists in his 93 appearances.

Unfortunately, Silva ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in July 2023 – just days before he opted to announce his retirement from professional football.
It was an understandable decision given the severity of his injury – coupled with his age.
Make no mistake about it – Silva is undoubtedly one of the finest footballers of his generation, if not of all time, and there may never be a player like him at Manchester City again.
