Real Betis No.22 Isco has now made a very interesting comment about Manchester City.

The 31-year-old shared the comments when speaking to SPORT.

So, what did Isco say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

Isco agreed to join Manchester City

Well, the Spain international has now revealed that he actually agreed to follow Manuel Pellegrini from Malaga to Manchester City in 2013.

However, a late proposal from Real Madrid caused Isco to change his mind.

The Spaniard said: “Before we went on holiday I told him that I was going with him (to Manchester from Malaga).

“Real Madrid appeared. That’s when I had to decide. I couldn’t say no to them. They hadn’t won the Champions League for many years and I had the feeling that it was going to happen soon.”

Isco eventually sealed a £23m move to the Santiago Bernabeu in June 2013, and the attacking midfielder’s intuition rang true as he lifted the UEFA Champions League at the end of his debut campaign.

The Benalmádena-born maestro eventually went on to win a total of five UEFA Champions League titles during his time at Real Madrid.

Isco would have been a great signing for Manchester City

Supporters won’t be too upset by this revelation, as Manchester City eventually signed a far more creative attacking midfielder in Kevin De Bruyne just two years after Isco opted to join Real Madrid.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard – arguably one of the greatest footballers of his generation – would have been a superb addition at the Etihad Stadium nonetheless.

Isco impressively scored 53 goals and provided 57 assists across 353 appearances for Real Madrid, winning practically all there is to win at club level.

The four-time FIFA Club World Cup winner is now back alongside Pellegrini at Real Betis, a manager who he came so close to working under at Manchester City.
