Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes could prove a big point to Pep Guardiola this weekend if he gets picked to start against Chelsea.
After beating Bournemouth 6-1 last weekend, followed by seeing off Young Boys in their latest Champions League group game, the Citizens have a big game ahead of them this weekend as they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In terms of the starting XI for Sunday’s clash, one player who we feel could be given a big opportunity to prove his worth to Guardiola is Nunes.
Nunes could prove a point against Chelsea

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Wolves in a deal worth £53m back in August, the midfielder has only started two of the five Premier League games he has featured in for Guardiola’s side.
However, having completed the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Young Boys on Tuesday, the Portuguese international showed what he’s capable of.
Specifically, in addition to winning the penalty that Erling Haaland scored to put the home side 1-0 up, Nunes ended up successfully completing 71 of the 76 passes he attempted, leaving him with a passing accuracy percentage of 93%.
In addition to making two key passes, the 25-year-old also did his bit defensively by winning nine of the 16 duels he was involved in and making two tackles throughout the game.
With John Stones having to go off injured in midweek, vacating his midfield hybrid role, this could allow Nunes to feature in the middle of the park and show Guardiola that he can be effective for his side in a big game away from home.
Moving forward, if the Spaniard does give the former Wolves star the chance to prove himself on Sunday, this will be a big opportunity for him to stake a claim in the team and potentially become a regular in the starting XI.
