Manchester City have a player who has suggested that he would be open to signing for a Saudi Pro League club.

The Saudi Pro League is emerging as the biggest hotspot for players to leave Europe to take the next step in their careers.

From City, the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte joined Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr in the summer of 2023 — with Kyle Walker also telling FIVE’s official YouTube channel he would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia one day.

Man City star suggests he is open to Saudi Pro League transfer

Manchester City have several players aged 30 or above, such as Kyle Walker (34), John Stones (30), Ederson (30) and Kevin De Bruyne (32).

Around two weeks ago, Ederson was reported to be attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Now, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has hinted while speaking to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws that he is open to a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The £54.5 million man said: “For Michèle [Lacroix, his partner], an exotic adventure is okay. These are also conversations that we are increasingly having as a family.”

De Bruyne continued: “I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.”

“At my age, you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes, you have to think about that.”

“If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet.”

The midfield maestro concluded: “Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment, I haven’t had to think about that yet.”

Kevin De Bruyne seems to be coming around to the idea

Having won everything possible in a Manchester City shirt, it seems like Kevin De Bruyne is warming up to the idea of heading to the Saudi Pro League next.

Last Tuesday, it was claimed that De Bruyne has given no indication that he desires to leave City as the club have offered him a contract extension.

While the Belgian has yet to provide his final decision, the fact that he did not shut the speculation down suggests the idea of a move does appeal to him in some respects.

Especially from a financial standpoint, judging by the six-time Premier League winner’s revelations.

Only time will tell whether the Manchester City vice-captain’s desire remains to stay in England or head to Saudi Arabia — considering his contract expires in 2025.
