Manchester City loanee Yan Couto has now admitted he would like to join Real Madrid one day.

The 21-year-old made the comments when speaking to Girona’s social media team.

So, what did Yan Couto say? Let’s take a look…

What Yan Couto said about Real Madrid

Well, the Brazil international did not exactly sit down and hold a lengthy interview about his desire to join Real Madrid one day.

Instead, Couto was simply taking part in a snappy Q&A (question and answer) session with Girona, where he is currently on loan from Manchester City.

When asked for his dream transfer, the South American simply replied: “Real Madrid”.

Therefore, it is no wonder Couto turned down a move to Barcelona before sealing his £5.5m switch to Manchester City from Coritiba in 2020.

How Yan Couto is performing away from Manchester City

Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain will have to think about replacing Kyle Walker in the near future, with the England international turning 34 in May.

However, if Couto continues to perform at his current level, Manchester City may already have a solution right under their nose.

The Brazilian has been in superb form during his season-long loan at Girona, helping Michel’s side sit second in La Liga, behind Real Madrid on goal difference alone.

Couto has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish side so far this term, scoring two goals while also providing six assists – a fantastic return for a defender.

If Guardiola does not give the Curitiba-born sensation an opportunity at the Etihad Stadium, there is every chance that Real Madrid decide to make his dream come true and submit a bid, based on how well he has performed in Spain.

After all, Real Madrid could also do with a new right-back soon as Dani Carvajal approaches his 32nd birthday.

Hopefully, Couto realises his vast potential in Manchester rather than Madrid.
