Manchester City midfielder Rodri put in a fine performance during his latest international match for Spain.
Having missed City’s three previous domestic matches due to a red-card suspension, the 27-year-old was back in action for his country last night as Spain beat Scotland 2-0 in their latest qualifying match for Euro 2024.
Even though he disappointed Pep Guardiola by getting himself sent off against Nottingham Forest last month, Rodri’s efforts for Spain yesterday will have reminded his club manager how good he is in the middle of the pitch.
Rodri impresses in Spain victory

Completing the full 90 minutes against Steve Clarke’s side, Rodri had 96 touches of the ball in total, racking up a passing accuracy percentage of 97%, the highest in the Spain side.
In addition to that, the midfielder made two key passes and successfully completed all of the 10 long-ball passes he attempted, as well as having a shot on target.
Then in terms of his efforts out of possession, Rodri was able to make two tackles, one clearance and block one shot from Scotland, helping his side keep a clean sheet.

This performance ultimately earned the City star, who joined the Manchester club back in 2019 in a deal worth £62m, an overall match rating of 7.7/10 from SofaScore, making him the second-highest-rated Spanish player on the day behind Alvaro Morata (8/10), who scored the game’s first goal.
Previously described by Guardiola as an “extraordinary” holding-midfielder, Rodri certainly lived up to that title in midweek by once again showing how effective he can be in and out of possession.
