‘A machine’… Roy Keane left very impressed by 23-year-old Man City player vs Luton

Roy Keane couldn’t help but be impressed by one Manchester City star after his performance against Luton Town.

Manchester City took another step towards claiming a historic second treble in a row on Tuesday as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

With one foot already in the last eight of the Champions League and Premier League leaders Liverpool only a point away, things are certainly looking good.

Pep Guardiola’s side destroyed Luton 6-2 in the perfect warm-up for Sunday’s massive meeting with Manchester United.

In any other game, Kevin De Bruyne’s four assists would have earned him all the plaudits but Erling Haaland was the star of the show.

The Norwegian sensation scored five goals for the second time in a City match and Roy Keane was understandably left very impressed.

Roy Keane on Erling Haaland

Speaking on ITV as a pundit, Keane said jokingly:  “He’s not bad!”

He went on: “He’s just prolific. He’s making great runs, he’s a natural goal scorer and he’s getting great service.

“A great attitude to score and he’s got that hunger. You saw it tonight, the kid is a machine, isn’t he?”

High praise from Roy Keane

United legend Keane is a notoriously hard man to please so to earn nothing but effusive praise is some going from Haaland.

Especially since the bulk of the compliments lauded Haaland’s attitude and hunger on the pitch, something Keane has lambasted players for a lack of in the past.

It just shows how much Haaland cares about his craft when he’s even desperate to rack up the goals in an FA Cup tie City should be comfortably winning.

The 23-year-old has already won all there is to win in his career at City (Carabao Cup aside) but is still thirsty for even more.

That’s the sort of attitude which will see City win many more leagues and cups in the years to come.
