After Manchester City earned a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, Thierry Henry emphasised on a ‘problem’ that defines Kevin De Bruyne.

The £54 million (Guardian) man saved City’s blushes in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final with a thunderous equaliser from outside the box.

While Manchester City vice-captain Kevin De Bruyne earned widespread praise for his clutch performance against Real Madrid, Thierry Henry had an interesting theory about the maestro.

Henry on the De Bruyne ‘problem’ as Manchester City earn draw against Real Madrid

It is common knowledge that the French legend was the assistant coach of the Belgium national team for years and as a result, he has worked extremely closely with the 31-year-old for quite a long time.

As Manchester City drew against Real Madrid, with many including Gary Lineker heralding Kevin De Bruyne, Thierry Henry shed light on how his one-of-a-kind football brain means his teammates cannot keep pace with him.

“I’ve come across a lot of players, played with a lot of players, saw a lot of players, played against some of the greatest. I think Kevin, his brain is the best I’ve ever seen, the way he sees the game. Because his brain is in some places, I don’t know what he thinks about sometimes, you look at him and it’s almost like he’s not with us because he’s that good”, he said on CBS Sports Golazo.

Henry continued, “Sometimes, it can be a problem because you’re not on his level, but I think he’s the most clever player I’ve seen in my life. It’s just second to none, the way he thinks.”

Thierry Henry continued to rave about Kevin De Bruyne as Manchester City drew to Real Madrid, saying, “Because I saw him for six years on and off with Belgium, you love the man a bit more, because I saw stuff he did in training and in games. He’s unbelievable.”

“His brain, I’m still thinking about some stuff I’ve seen, he’s on a different planet and it wasn’t his best game tonight, but he delivered.”
