Manchester City have already begun their rebuild in wake of their latest cycle coming to an end.
The Citizens haven’t been able to match their heroics from seasons gone by, and their last realistic chance of silverware is the FA Cup.
Rodri’s injury, combined with some ageing legs, have meant that Manchester City have had a pretty hard time this term.
However, the club is already on the case, having invested heavily in a number of high-profile signings in the January transfer window.
Now, BBC Sport pundit Aaron Lennon has spoken about two players who are set to be “the future of the City team”.

Aaron Lennon says Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush are Manchester City’s future
Lennon, speaking on Football Daily, said Omar Marmoush and Erling Haaland are set to be among the first names on the City team sheet in years to come.
The pundit also said he has been really impressed by Marmoush, who has hit the ground running at the Etihad Stadium since his move in January.
“I think Marmoush and Haaland will be the future of this City team,” said Lennon.
“It is going to be a transition. I do think they will sign players again in the summer but I think those two will be a couple of the first names on the team sheet.
“I think they’ll be looking for Marmoush to add more goals. De Bruyne was a lot more of the assists whereas I think Marmoush has a lot of goals in him.
“I have been really impressed with him, the way he’s come in. I think he’s a top, top player and I do feel he’ll get a lot of goals for City.”
Other players who could star for Manchester City in future
Haaland has already achieved so much at Manchester City that it’s easy to forget that he’s only 24 years old and is yet to enter his prime as a centre-forward.
Meanwhile, Marmoush is 26, so he’s about to enter his peak, and it’ll be exciting to see how he fares for the Citizens in the coming years.
Likewise, it’ll be exciting to see how City’s young signings from this season will develop.
Nico Gonzalez is just 23 years of age and already playing at a very high level, while Abdukodir Khusanov has already been tipped as a future City captain.
Khusanov is 20, the same age as Savinho, while Vitor Reis is 19 and Juma Bah is 18. All four are still at the start of their careers and have the opportunity to develop into real stars.
