Manchester City have already embarked on their rebuilding job in wake of a difficult season as they made a host of signings in the January transfer window.

Abdukodir Khusanov was one of those signings, and it’s not taken him long to already become a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium.

Khusanov quickly shook off his baptism of fire against Chelsea to show what he’s capable of.

The Uzbekistan international held his own against the likes of Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Son Heung-min and Chris Wood.

Khusanov’s efforts were rewarded with Manchester City’s February Player of the Month award.

With fans eager to know more about the new City hero, he was asked a number of questions, including who has become his best friend at the club.

Abdukodir Khusanov says Vitor Reis is his best friend at Manchester City

When asked who his best friend was at the club, Khusanov replied by saying it was Vitor Reis.

Khusanov also said his favourite place in Manchester is the Etihad Stadium, his favourite Manc slang phrase is “I am buzzing”, and his favourite cheat meal is Uzbek pilaf and kebab.

The 21-year-old finished off the mini-interview by thanking the City fans for voting him as their player of the month for February.

How Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis have fared at Manchester City so far

Save for his shaky debut against Chelsea, Khusanov has done impeccably since moving to City from Lens earlier this year.

He has made seven appearances for City so far, scoring once, and has kept two clean sheets to date.

Meanwhile, Reis – who also joined City in the winter transfer window – has made two outings so far, both in the FA Cup.

The 19-year-old is being eased into life at the Etihad Stadium and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop in sky blue.

Both players are in the same situation, recently arriving at a new football club in a new country, and both are likely learning English together.

And with both playing at centre-back, they could well become City’s future central defensive partnership for years to come if all goes well.
