Saudi-Arabian club, Al-Ahli, have set their sights on signing another Manchester City player this summer after Riyad Mahrez.

Recent weeks have seen the Saudi-based club be heavily linked with a move for the winger and are reportedly preparing to make an offer for him.

Now, some fresh details have come to light regarding the club’s interest in adding another City player to their ranks this summer.

Al-Ahli want Laporte

According to a recent report from 90 Min, Al-Ahli are keen on signing Laporte as well as Mahrez in this window.

The report also adds that City are willing to sell the defender to a willing buyer this summer.

Last season saw the Spaniard start just 11 Premier League games for Pep Guardiola’s side, which shows that he is below other defenders in the squad such as Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias in the pecking order.

Those 11 starts came against the likes of Wolves, Brentford, Aston Villa, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest among others.

His performances across his 12 league appearances earned the 29-year-old an overall season rating of 6.67/10 from WhoScored, which is lower than the likes of Ake, Dias and John Stones managed to pick up.

All of this makes it easy to see why the club and the manager are seemingly willing to sell him this summer, especially since they are also looking to bring in Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

In our view, we feel that if the Citizens end up landing a deal for the Croatian and Al-Ahli make a suitable offer for Laporte, City should let him leave and hopefully see him start playing regularly again if he’s open to the move.
