It has been reported that Manchester City have agreed terms to sign West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta, with a six-year-contract in place.

This comes from journalist Mohamed Bouhfasi, after it was claimed on Wednesday that his head had turned over a move to City.

Now, it seems like Manchester City could be on the brink of signing Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United.

Journalist: Manchester City have now agreed terms over Lucas Paqueta transfer

Branded as ‘incredible’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), the Brazilian international has emerged as a surprise target for the treble-winners.

Interestingly enough, it was revealed on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola has ‘always been a fan’ of the 25-year-old.

Now, it has been reported that Manchester City and Lucas Paqueta have agreed terms over a move this summer.

The former AC Milan attacker is believed to have spoken to Pep Guardiola already as well, and is set to be awarded a six-year contract.

It has also been claimed that while City initially offered €85 million plus €10 million (£82 million), West Ham are demanding a lofty €110 million fee (£95 million) with no bonuses.

However, Manchester City are believed to be confident of getting the deal done due to how willing Lucas Paqueta is to make the move.

Signing Lucas Paqueta has become a priority after Kevin De Bruyne’s injury

With Kevin De Bruyne expected to be sidelined through injury for a while after picking up yet another knock against Burnley, the Sky Blues are quite short in the creative midfield department.

As a result, pairing Lucas Paqueta up alongside Phil Foden during the time when the Belgian is unavailable would be ideal for Manchester City.

Assuming that Pep Guardiola’s men will give their talismanic midfielder enough time to slowly make a return to action, to solely have relied on the ‘Stockport Iniesta’ to do the business would be a risky decision.

However, with Lucas Paqueta’s potential arrival, they could be better-place to deal with Kevin De Bruyne’s absence.
