Manchester City are reportedly close to agreeing a transfer deal for Manchester United youth talent Harrison Parker.
The Citizens have a track record when it comes to signing senior players from fellow English clubs over recent years.
However, the treble winners now look to be on the verge of snatching a young player away from their closest rival’s youth academy.
City close to Parker deal
In a recent Twitter post, journalist Fabrizio Romano had this to say on the matter.
He said: EXCL: Manchester City are close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United for top talented CB (16) Harrison Parker #MCFC
“City have beaten four top clubs to the signing — agreement is close despite Man Utd offering highest youth deal to keep Parker.”
The 16-year-old centre-back joined United from Arsenal’s youth squad back in September 2021 and has since gone on to make three appearances for the Red Devils’ U18 side.
Parker has also made three appearances for England’s U16 side, which have been in international friendlies against Belgium, France and most recently, Turkey, who he managed to score against in the 3-1 win back in December 2021.
Bearing in mind how City’s U18 side were crowned 2022-23 Under-18 Premier League National champions back in May, the fact that they are apparently keen on adding Parker to their ranks shows how eager they are to strengthen their youth sides despite their recent success.
With the club close to landing a deal for the United youngster, this shows how highly they rate the teenager to attempt to take him away from their closest rivals.
Moving forward, having already spent time at two big clubs, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares at City should they end up securing a transfer deal for the young prospect.
