Alan Shearer has picked Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish in his Premier League Team of the Week for his splendid display in his side’s 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool.
The 27-year-old received plaudits from his own teammate in Erling Haaland after the contest, as he scored and assisted in the hosts’ rout at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, Alan Shearer has emphasised just why Jack Grealish put in a masterful showing against Liverpool for Manchester City.
Shearer raves about Grealish after Liverpool masterclass
The England international set the ball rolling for the Sky Blues after they were trailing 1-0 after Mohamed Salah’s opener, setting up an inch-perfect equaliser for Julian Alvarez.
As Grealish dazzled on the ball and gave the Reds defence a hard time of keeping him quiet, he eventually got on the scoresheet himself, dispatching the ball past Alisson after a pass from Kevin De Bruyne to sum up a display branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Bernardo Silva via the Daily Mail.
Picking his Premier League Team of the Week, Alan Shearer explained why he was seriously impressed by Manchester City wideman Jack Grealish against Liverpool.

“He tied Trent Alexander-Arnold in knots. Grealish looks right at home in a Manchester City shirt now and his run back to stop Mohamed Salah shows why Guardiola loves him”, he told the official website.

While some may put forward Nathan Ake’s name, others may vouch for Erling Haaland and there will also be a section that champion Ruben Dias, the ex-Aston Villa skipper belongs in this conversation.
It is no coincidence that Jack Grealish has become a mainstay for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side as he has been impressing week in, week out, as was the case against Liverpool, as noted by Alan Shearer.
Grealish is finally connecting the dots in sky blue, blending silk and steel to develop into arguably the most complete version of himself, and that too during the business end of the season.
