While Kevin De Bruyne may have overtaken the Spaniard as perhaps the greatest midfielder in the club’s history and even the Premier League, as voted by over 1,500 fans, the latter seems to rarely be mentioned by fans and pundits alike nowadays.
However, Pep Guardiola rightly used the word, ‘extraordinary’ to sum up his fellow countryman’s time in Manchester, as quote by City’s official website, as he is simply one of the best midfielders to ever grace the game, let alone the English top-flight.
In an interview with Premier League’s official YouTube channel, Alexander Isak waxed lyrical about David Silva.
“I think everyone knows, the way he controls the ball, the way he never loses the ball, playing with him, you just literally have to make the run and he’ll put the ball at your feet. And that’s really amazing to play with someone with that quality.”
Alexander Isak also explained what every player can learn from the World Cup winner, saying, “I think the way he is always orientated before he gets the ball, he’s always prepared. I think that’s something everyone can learn from him in every position.”
Despite being 37 years old, Silva is still doing the business for Real Sociedad, which just showcased how much of a once-in-a-generation player he has always been.
It’s nice that a current player that is on the up in Isak has reminded the world of why the Manchester City icon remains a genius, because it would be a cardinal sin from any football fan to understate his greatness.
