Manchester City are preparing to bid farewell to Kevin De Bruyne this season after 10 star-studded years at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne has won 16 trophies since joining Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015, including six Premier League titles and the 2022/23 Champions League.

The Belgium international has certainly done enough to warrant being considered one of the Premier League’s best players of all time.

Indeed, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has now been asked to rank who he thinks is the best between De Bruyne, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

Alexis Mac Allister names Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne in second place

Mac Allister is the latest guest on Sky Sports’ Saturday Social Ranks, where guests are tasked with ranking a number of different topics from first to third.

On the subject of legendary Premier League midfielders, Mac Allister had to rank De Bruyne, Gerrard and Lampard from first to third.

The Liverpool star named Gerrard in top spot, saying the Anfield icon was “the first very complete player” who “had absolutely everything” in his locker.

De Bruyne was then named in second place, with Mac Allister saying he’s “just an incredible player” and a “really tough opponent” who he’ll miss when he leaves City.

Lampard, who shone for Chelsea in his playing days, was named in third place.

Why Manchester City fans should not be worried about losing Kevin De Bruyne this summer

Losing a player of De Bruyne’s calibre will always be a big blow for any team.

However, Maine Road cult hero Paul Dickov recently explained why City fans should not be too concerned about losing De Bruyne.

Dickov, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, explained how City have a good track record of replacing top players with equally good talents.

“They’ve been like that – and Pep’s been like that throughout since he’s been here,” said the Manchester City TV pundit.

“I remember when even at the very start when Joe Hart left the fans were in uproar and everybody’s like ‘you can’t get rid of Hart. He’s England’s number one’.

“And then when Vincent (Kompany) retired, everybody’s like ‘how are we going to replace Vincent?’.

“Fernandinho… who was for me City’s best player, the most important player for four or five years – they go out and get Rodri. Gundogan, when they brought him in.

“Sergio (Aguero), David Silva, Yaya Toure, all the City fans are like ‘how are we going to replace these guys?’.
