Michael Owen has said that Erling Haaland has been the perfect signing for Manchester City.
The 22-year-old is one game away from completing his debut season at the Manchester club since arriving from Borussia Dortmund back in the previous summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £51m.
With his first Premier League title and FA Cup secured, the Norway international could seal his and the club’s first Champions League title this evening if they beat Inter Milan.
Having had a good look at the striker since last summer, one pundit, who had a particular knack of scoring goals, has heaped praise on not just the player but the club for signing him in the first place.
Owen lauds City’s move for Haaland
Speaking to BT Sport ahead of the final, Owen had this to say about Haaland and his move to City.
He said: “He’s literally got everything, hasn’t he? He’s strong, he’s big, he’s fast, he can finish, he’s powerful, he’s pretty much got everything and when you’re then backed up by this team he plays in in this moment, it’s almost a match made in heaven this signing, that’s why he’s scored so many goals.
“There’s other great strikers in the world but coming here absolutely in his peak, having learnt the ropes at a couple of other clubs and built his way up to being one of, if not, the best striker in the world and as I say, to come at the absolute perfect time with someone like Kevin De Bruyne playing behind you and Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva and all these players.
“It’s just all the stars aligned at once and that’s why you’re seeing the magic happening I guess.”

With 52 goals to his name in 52 appearances across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side, this gives a clear look of how impressive the former Dortmund star has been for City.
Scoring 36 goals in 35 Premier League appearances not only landed Haaland the Golden Boot but also made him the top scorer across Europe’s top five leagues.
With all of that in mind, it’s understandable why Owen thinks the centre-forward has been a dream signing for the Citizens given what he’s delivered for them in terms of scoring a plethora of goals.
Looking ahead to tonight’s showdown in Turkey, if the Norwegian can add to his goals tally and help his side secure the treble, he could already be considered as one of City’s best ever signings.
