Ally McCoist mesmerised by ‘absolutely terrifying’ Man City star during 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava

Manchester City have cruised to victory in the Champions League tonight, beating Slovan Bratislava 4-0.

City have their first win in the competition – and it was a very easy night at the office for Pep Guardiola‘s side.

Ilkay Gundogan gave City an early lead via a deflected strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Phil Foden, starting for just the second time this season, then opened his account with a lovely cultured finish into the far corner.

It was attack, after attack, after attack from Manchester City, with Slovan pretty much camped on the edge of their own area.

In the second-half, Erling Haaland made it three for City after a defence-splitting ball by Rico Lewis, before James McAtee put the icing on the cake.

It was a very one-sided affair, and one man who had a very good night tonight was Jeremy Doku, whose performance went down extremely well with TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist.

City were the overwhelming favourites heading into tonight’s game, and the team will not have too many easier games this season.

It was just an onslaught from the visitors, who dominated the ball and completely suffocated their opponents.

Slovan just could not get out, and City could have genuinely got to double figures had some players not forgotten their shooting boots.

It was a particularly fun night for £55 million signing Doku, who played on the right side.

The Belgian constantly got the byline, creating space with his trademark shimmy. He was allowed to come into the area so often, and his opponent Kevin Wimmer will probably be having nightmares tonight.

Ally McCoist was commentating for TNT Sports and could not get enough of the City winger.

He said at one point in the first-half: “I’m laughing! His feet are dynamite! Have they got quicker in the last couple of days? It’s unbelievable.

“He just throws that little shimmy in doesn’t he? His movement and speed over that initial two yards is absolutely terrifying.”

Slovan did actually get a better handling on Doku in the second-half, but he was still a constant threat for City.

Doku electric against Slovan

This was a good night’s work for Doku, who now needs to try and build on this display.

It has been said many times before, but his one issue is consistency. He rarely has issues beating his opponent in a one-vs-one situation.

It is all about the end product with Doku, and it will surely improve as he gets older.

It is important for Doku to get some good numbers on the board in this first-half of the season before Oscar Bobb returns to the picture.

Once the Norwegian returns from injury, there will be more competition for him, so he needs to put himself in a good position ahead of his teammate’s comeback.
