Manchester City have reportedly agreed personal terms with Matheus Nunes over a potential transfer deal according to Fabrizio Romano.
After walking away from a possible transfer move for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta, the Manchester club have now set their sights on securing the services of another Premier League player.
City submit Nunes bid
In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Understand Manchester City have now submitted initial bid to Wolverhampton for Matheus Nunes.
“Told proposal is in excess of €50m fee with add-ons discussed in the package. Nunes has already accepted City as destination, personal terms agreed.”
Wolves signed the 24-year-old during the previous summer transfer window from Sporting CP in a deal worth an overall fee of £38m.
Since then, the Portuguese international has made 41 appearances for the Midlands club in all competitions, scoring one goal and delivering one assist in the process.
Having played in 34 of Wolves’ 38 Premier League games last season, Nunes did so while featuring in numerous midfield positions, showcasing his versatility.
This could be a factor in why City are looking to add him to their ranks this summer, given how Pep Guardiola likes players that are able to be deployed in different roles across the pitch such as Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.
Also, with Kevin De Bruyne out for the next few months after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury, this also highlights City’s need to add a new midfielder to their squad.
Moving forward, with Nunes’ top-flight experience and clear eagerness to make a move to the Etihad Stadium, we feel that this could be a very smart piece of business from the European champions.
