Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a claim about Manchester City and their Champions League victory from last season.
After they made it to the 2021 final for the first time in their history, the Citizens ended up losing that final 1-0 to fellow Premier League side Chelsea.
Having then crashed out in the semi-final stage of the 2022 tournament to Real Madrid, the Manchester club made history a year later by winning the Champions League after their Premier League and FA Cup victories.
Now with the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup under their belts, one former Manchester United player, who knows a lot about what it takes to be successful in Europe, has shared his thoughts on City’s efforts.
Ronaldo makes City claim after Champions League victory

Speaking at the recent Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo had this to say about what he saw from City last season and their Champions League victory.
He said: “Manchester City did amazing. Congratulations on their season. Players, coach, superb. Finally they win the Champions League, they probably deserved it two years ago. I enjoy seeing them playing.”
Looking back over City’s 2020/21 Champions League journey, they beat Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain to make it to the final.
On the flip side, Chelsea overcame Atletico Madrid, Porto and Real Madrid to book their place in the final and ultimately win the competition thanks to their 1-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Having won the Champions League five times, it’s safe to say that Ronaldo knows everything it takes to lift this particular trophy and that his word means a lot in terms of which teams deserve to win it.
Moving forward, if the Citizens can make history once again and regain their European title this time around, this would undoubtedly increase their status as one of the best sides in Europe.
