‘Amazing’ player now wants to leave Man City, would cost at least £60m

Manchester City have shown in previous years that they aren’t against selling some of their big-name players.

For example, after having their heads turned by other clubs, the likes of Leroy Sane, Ferran Torres and Gabriel Jesus, among others, have left City for big sums to join other clubs in previous transfer windows.

Despite losing some big players, Pep Guardiola’s side have still managed to assert their dominance in English football by winning six Premier League trophies over the past seven years.

With the Blues in the midst of another summer window, some behind-the-scenes details have come to the fore regarding another player in the City squad linked with the exit door.

Why Julian Alvarez wants to leave Man City

A recent report from The Athletic had this to say on why Julian Alvarez is looking to leave City this summer.

It said: He and his family would welcome a move to a warmer climate and he wants more game time at City.

“That said, it is hard to imagine him playing any more minutes given he is playing two international tournaments for Argentina this summer and has not had a proper break for about three years.

“City are believed to be asking for roughly £60million plus around £17m in add-ons, which Atletico Madrid, his main suitors, are not ready to pay.”

City should convince Alvarez to stay at the club

While there isn’t a lot City can do about the climate in Manchester, or convince any player that they will play every minute available, they showed last year that Alvarez is a key player for them.

In fact, the 24-year-old, who Ben Foster heaped praise on back in April, appeared in more Premier League games (36) than any other City player last season.

Having scored 11 goals and provided nine assists across those 36 league games, it’s clear that Alvarez, who Guardiola dubbed “amazing” (via TNT Sports) earlier this year, is a valuable attacking asset for the Citizens.

In our view, rather than just hoping no club offers enough cash to buy Alvarez this summer, City should convince the striker to stay where he is and help them continue winning trophies.
