‘Another reason why I fear for Spurs’… Pundit says Man City have one player who could demolish Spurs tomorrow

Pundit Jermaine Beckford has claimed that Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, could destroy Tottenham Hotspur’s defence tomorrow.

Pep Guardiola’s side are back in Premier League action tomorrow with another big game as they welcome Spurs to the Etihad Stadium.

With Ange Postecoglou’s side having their main defensive partnership of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero unavailable for this game, with the Dutchman out injured and the Argentine suspended, one pundit has suggested that this could be great news for one particular City player.

Speaking in a recent edition of Team Talks by Premier League Productions (via Optus Sport), Beckford had this to say about what Haaland could do against Spurs if they have the likes of Ben Davies and Eric Dier as their centre-back pairing on Sunday.

He said: “That’s another reason why I fear for Spurs, because you’ve got those two players up against the best striker in the world in Erling Haaland. The guy is an absolute goal machine and he bullies some of the best defenders in the world.

“And with all due respect to those two guys, the reason why they’re not the number one and number two pairings at the back is because their quality is not necessarily there, they’re not physically there either, they’ve not got the pace either to deal with Haaland’s quality.”

Bearing in mind how Spurs have lost their three previous league games and conceded eight goals in doing so with the likes of Davies, Dier and Emerson Royal playing in the centre-back roles in the absence of Van de Ven and Romero for most of those games, it’s understandable why Beckford thinks this could be a worry for the north London side when they come up against City.

Especially when they have Haaland looking to add to his already impressive goal tally for the season, as the Norwegian has found the back of the net 14 times in 13 games.

Looking ahead to the game, it’s safe to say that if the City striker senses any weakness in the Spurs defence, he has the ability to exploit that and make himself a real nightmare to play against, which could end up being the key for the home side in terms of being able to win all three points.
