Kalvin Phillips may be struggling for playing time at Manchester City at the moment, but it seems that the England international midfielder has plenty of admirers.
That is according to 90min, who has named Aston Villa among the clubs who are keen on the former Leeds United midfielder.
So, what is the situation involving Manchester City, Aston Villa and Kalvin Phillips?
Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, according to 90min, Aston Villa are interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.
As we all know, Phillips is a peripheral figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Even with Rodri suspended, the Manchester City manager has ignored the 27-year-old midfielder, who was described on the club’s official website as “a formidable talent” with “fantastic ability and quality” by Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, when the Citizens signed him back in the summer of 2022.

Phillips has played just 70 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Last season, the midfielder made just two starts in the league for City.
90min has reported that Bayern Munich have made contact with City regarding a potential move for Phillips in the January transfer window.
The report has noted that Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Aston Villa are also keen on Phillips.
Aston Villa wanted to sign Kalvin Phillips previously
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Aston Villa have been linked with Phillips.
Villa were really keen on the midfielder back in the summer of 2019.
Phillips was at Leeds at the time.
According to The Telegraph in September 2019, Villa made a bid of £15 million for Phillips.
Leeds turned it down.
The midfielder went on to sign a new deal with Leeds and eventually helped the club get promoted to the Premier League.
And, now it seems that Villa want to sign Phillips again.
Maybe, just maybe this time, Phillips could be inclined to move to Villa Park now given that he is unlikely to be a success at City under Guardiola.
