Aymeric Laporte sent a brief message on social media while posing for a picture with Rodri after Spain beat England 2-1 in the final to win the European Championship.
The Spanish pair played in tandem at the Etihad Stadium for four years.
Laporte and Rodri were incredibly successful during their time as teammates at Manchester City — winning one Carabao Cup, three successive Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a Champions League trophy.
Luis de la Fuente started the former City pair in six out of the seven matches at Euro 2024.

Aymeric Laporte posts tongue-in-cheek caption in picture with Rodri
Rodri did not start against Albania in Spain’s 1-0 win where a largely-rotated Spanish side was on display.
While Laporte did not feature in his nation’s opening game of the tournament in a 3-0 thrashing of Croatia — with Nacho Fernandez starting in his place.
However, the pair seemed like two of the first names on the team sheet against England in the final.
After Spain were crowned the champions of Euro 2024, Laporte posted a picture alongside Rodri on X with the coveted trophy in both players’ hands, captioned: “We’re just used to it”, followed by ‘grinning’ and ‘trophy’ emojis.
While the Al-Nassr centre-back’s caption was tongue-in-cheek, it referenced how accustomed he is at winning trophies with the £62.5 million man — whether that is for Manchester City or now, Spain.
Laporte is clearly still quite pally with the 28-year-old, despite having left Pep Guardiola’s side.
During Manchester City’s 4-1 win against Aston Villa in April, the 30-year-old raved about Rodri’s display, hailing him as a player who is “out of this world.”
With Spain likely being one of the favourites heading into the 2026 World Cup two years from now, the former Sky Blues duo would be hoping to continue their streak of winning silverware in tandem.
For the time being, they have earned the right to celebrate their triumph and put their feet up.
