Bayern Munich reportedly don’t want to pay Manchester City’s asking price for Kalvin Phillips in January.
The midfielder was linked with a move to the German club during the previous summer transfer window although ended up staying at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite that, reports have emerged suggesting that the Citizens could look to move the midfielder out of the club during the upcoming January transfer window.
Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the current situation concerning the player and how the two aforementioned clubs view him in terms of a potential transfer move this January.
Bayern put off by City’s asking price for Phillips

According to a recent report from journalist Christian Falk for Caught Offside, City reportedly want over €50m (£43m) for Phillips if they are to sell him in January, although Bayern don’t want to spend that much in the upcoming window.
City signed the Englishman during the 2022 summer transfer window from Leeds United in a deal worth £45m.
Across his debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium, Phillips started just four of the 21 games he appeared in across all competitions.
This season has seen the 27-year-old feature in just six games, prior to today’s Premier League match against Bournemouth, one of which he started, which has since led to the player speaking out during the previous international break that he may look to move away from the club in January if he doesn’t start playing regularly in an effort to cement his place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Moving forward, if Pep Guardiola isn’t likely to give Phillips the game time he’s after, it could be the best next step for all parties to see the club sell the midfielder in January, although they may have to lower their asking price if they want to strike a deal.
