Manchester City picked up their first home win of the new Premier League season this afternoon.
After beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, City secured a 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium this time around.
Finding themselves 1-0 down with just seven minutes on the clock, Pep Guardiola’s side were awarded a penalty after Leif Davis brought down Savinho in the Ipswich penalty area.
Erling Haaland then put that penalty away before he went on to bag his first hat-trick of the campaign.
In the first half, a pundit found himself sharing his astonishment at another penalty incident that took place shortly after the one City were awarded.

Martin Keown baffled by penalty decision in Man City vs Ipswich Town
After seeing the referee wave away a penalty shout from Ipswich after Savinho looked to have barged into Davis in the City box, Martin Keown had this to say on this particular decision on BBC Sport’s live commentary of the game.
He said: “It is a joke. That should have been a penalty for Ipswich.
“It is ironic how it is the same two players involved as the one given to Man City. Savinho comes in with the challenge on Davis and I think there is more contact here than the first one.
“I’m bemused by that decision.”
Savinho shone against Ipswich
After seeing him perform against Chelsea last weekend, Paul Merson claimed that Savinho outstaged fellow City winger Jeremy Doku in the match.
Making his home debut for the Blues since arriving from Troyes back in July, Savinho kicked off City’s comeback against Ipswich by winning the penalty the Haaland scored by getting the better of Davis in the box.
He then went on to complete 71 minutes of the game before being replaced by Jack Grealish.
During his time on the pitch, the Brazilian made two key passes, won seven of the nine duels he was involved in and even made four successful tackles.
Savinho ultimately earned himself an overall match rating of 8.2/10 from SofaScore, making him the third-highest-rated City player on the day.
Even though Keown, who used to be a defender for Arsenal, thinks the referee should have given Ipswich a penalty later in the first half, Savinho still showed how useful he can be on and off the ball for his new side.
