Neil Lennon loved what he saw Phil Foden do in the 24th minute as Manchester City took on Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

The 52-year-old was commentating on the Premier League clash for BBC Radio 5 Live.

So, what did Neil Lennon say about Phil Foden? Let’s take a look…

What Neil Lennon said about Phil Foden

Well, the man who graduated from Manchester City’s academy in 1989 was blown away by the England international’s assist for Jack Grealish.

Foden sharply collected a pass from Ruben Dias just on the edge of Crystal Palace’s box, with a number of red and blue shirts surrounding him, and somehow found a bit of space.

The £225,000-a-week man then rolled a perfectly weighted pass into Grealish for the Manchester City No.10 to stride onto and slot beyond Dean Henderson.

Speaking about Foden’s assist, Lennon said: “For me it’s all about Foden. Lovely little pass from the edge of the box. He slides it through to Grealish and it’s a good finish. For Palace, that’s the gamble, whether you stick with the formation at 1-0. Beautiful goal.”

The 23-year-old now has six assists and seven goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season.

Grealish form continues in Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

Lennon wanted to put the spotlight on Foden after Grealish scored, so let’s give the £100m man some attention.

The 28-year-old has now scored three goals in his last three Premier League appearances, stepping up in the absence of Jeremy Doku to remind everybody exactly what he is capable of.

Some were concerned about Grealish earlier this season after the Belgian arrived from Rennes as competition on the left – including Chris Sutton, who felt the Englishman was in danger of losing his place under Pep Guardiola.

However, the Birmingham-born maestro has shown a tremendous attitude to get his head down and work hard.

Grealish is now reaping the rewards, to say the least.
