Ferran Torres has now admitted that he is playing the best football of his career at Barcelona – after leaving Manchester City in 2022.

The 23-year-old made the comments when speaking to La Vanguardia.

So, what did Ferran Torres say about how his career has panned out since leaving Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

Well, the Spaniard initially struggled at the Camp Nou after leaving the Etihad Stadium.

Torres reveals that he found life difficult under Xavi last season – scoring just four goals in La Liga across 14 starts and 19 substitute appearances.

Now – however – the Spain international is a man reborn after netting a hat trick against Real Betis on Sunday.

Torres said: “I think I’m in the best moment of my career, in which I have the most confidence, in which I feel mentally stronger. I was able to change a situation in which I found it very difficult to have minutes and opportunities.”

Xavi also heaped praise on the Barcelona No.7 for the manner in which he has turned things around for himself in Catalonia.

The 43-year-old said: “This is the fruit of work and discipline and the perseverance of believing in oneself.

“In the summer he sent me a message telling me that he planned to succeed at Barça, and that’s how he is. He is one of the players with the greatest mental strength that I have encountered in my career.

How Ferran Torres performed at the Etihad Stadium

In our view, Torres was actually a bit underrated at Manchester City – and it is great to see him now shining at Barcelona.

The Foios-born forward scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 43 appearances for the Citizens, while often playing in a number of different positions across the frontline.

Regardless of what happened on the pitch, Manchester City also made a huge profit on Torres, signing him from Valencia for £20.9m and selling in a £55m deal back in January 2022.

Nowadays, it sounds as if everybody has turned out to be a winner from that particular agreement.
